Crystal Palace faced a real six-pointer when they went head-to-head with Norwich City at Selhurst Park in their last Premier League outing, however the Eagles responded to the challenge with Jason Puncheon scoring the game’s only goal and thus sealing the three points which gave Palace’s top-flight survival chances a massive boost.

This was the side’s first victory since the turn of the year and it couldn’t have been at a more opportune time for the South London outfit, given that it has lifted them some ten points clear of the relegation zone with a mere six matches left to play. Indeed, one could safely assume that Palace won’t be dropping down to the Championship at the end of the campaign, although their Premier League status could be assured with another three points tonight.

Manager Alan Pardew is refusing to allow complacency to set in and will demand another win at home this evening, saying to reporters following the win at the weekend: “I was as nervous today as I have ever been in football. Sometimes the media can keep drilling it into you and in the end you are carrying that burden. I wanted to calm them down at half-time and they delivered for me. We are four points from mid-table and that is where we should be. If we can finish as high as we can then we can still get 11th. That’s what we want to hunt down.”

Palace will face a Toffees side who have been underperforming of late, despite putting to an end a the three-match losing run by drawing 1-1 with Watford last weekend at Vicarage Road. Nevertheless, with just one win from their last six games, it isn’t looking too good for Everton boss Roberto Martinez and some sections of the Goodison support are turning on their boss and calling for his dismissal.

“Since day one, I am extremely proud and honoured to be the manager at Everton and I accept that the fans are not going to be happy with the team losing,” the Toffees boss said before the draw with Watford. “They know that I will give my life to achieve a winning team, and everything we do is to make them proud so I have no problems with their discontent. Football is an emotional game. I would not expect anyone to be happy with poor standards.”

Everton may be in the last four of the FA Cup courtesy of their impressive 2-0 win over Chelsea, however despite this, it has been a season to forget for the Toffees fans and we can’t back them with any confidence whatsoever to manage anything from this match, despite BetVictor making the visitors favourites at 8/5 to seal the three points.

Crystal Palace will doubtless have been boosted by their weekend 1-0 victory over the Canaries and we’ll be backing them to win tonight at 19/10 with Ladbrokes.

Another worthy bet is backing Under 2.5 goals at 4/5 with Coral. Everton’s home matches have seen them score 57 and concede 28, however their defence has been more solid on the road with just 15 conceded. The Eagles are one of the lowest scoring sides in the top flight and as such, we feel that we won’t be witnessing too many goals in South London this evening.
