Crystal Palace v Burnley preview – low-scoring match on the cards
Burnley can keep things tight at Selhurst Park after holding Manchester United
September 12th, 2014
After losing 3-1 at home to Chelsea in their first match of the season, Burnley have tightened up at the back, losing 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium before drawing 0-0 against Manchester United.
The latter result has given the Clarets some much-needed confidence ahead of Saturday’s showdown at Selhurst Park, with Sean Dyche’s side available at 14/5 with Ladbrokes to claim their first win of the season.
Burnley are not without a chance although they could be facing Crystal Palace at the wrong time, with the Eagles getting their act together under Neil Warnock after losing their first two matches of the seasn.
Palace have recruited Wilfried Zaha on a season-long loan and it was the Manchester United forward who scored the equalizer when his team drew 3-3 at St James’ Park a fortnight ago.
Even so, whether we can bank on Palace at odds of 5/4 is another matter, with both managers aware of how crucially important these sort of fixtures are when it comes to remaining in the top flight.
Therefore, we should look at Burnley’s tightening defence as a clue for how this game could proceed and Under 2.5 Goals looks a reasonable shout at 4/6 despite the fact that all three of Palace’s games have ended with three or more goals being scored.
We also can’t discount the draw at odds of 14/5 with betfair, thus covering the possibility of a bore draw as well as the teams scoring one goal apiece.
