Copenhagen v Leicester City tips: Back Foxes to continue winning European run
Can Leicester City make it four non the bounce in Copenhagen on Wednesday evening?
November 1st, 2016
Leicester City may as well kiss goodbye to any hopes they may have had about successfully defending their 2015/16 Premier League title, the Foxes’ surprise factor no longer having the impact of last season. This isn’t the case in the Champions League however as Claudio Ranieri’s men have confounded all critics to win their opening three European games.
Indeed the Foxes enjoy a five point lead at the summit of Group G, something which would have been considered all but impossible prior to the start of the campaign. The big question is, can they maintain this momentum and effectively guarantee their place in the last sixteen with a win on Wednesday evening?
A Leicester victory coupled with a win for Brugge at Porto would mean that Ranieri’s men would be in the knockout stages. Simple as that. Could there be any more incentive for the reigning Premier League champions to win this match?
The bookies are optimistic about Leicester City’s chances of progressing in the competition given that they have been a surprise package in Europe this season, much as they were in the 2015/16 Premier League (Foxes 1/5 to finish Group G as winners and 1/66 to qualify). Indeed last season’s form players – Riyad Mahrez, Kasper Schmeichel and Christian Fuchs – are enjoying some excellent European form this season and should this continue we could be seeing another Foxes surprise at a higher level.
Mahrez may be on fire in Europe at the moment but we expect a more conservative approach from Leicester on Wednesday. Copenhagen have been enjoying some big victories of late, however they became unstuck in their last meeting with Ranieri’s side, losing 1-0 at the King Power Stadium a fortnight ago.
Nevertheless a cautious approach by both sides should produce few goals and we’ll be backing a low-scoring clash with under 2.5 goals decent value at 8/13 with Winner.com.
