Chelsea v West Ham tips – Spoils set to be shared at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea will be put to the test tonight at Stamford Bridge
August 15th, 2016
It’s all systems go for Chelsea tonight as they open their 2016/17 Premier League campaign with a tough clash with West Ham. Antonio Conte is now the man in the hot-seat following the departure of Jose Mourinho and the Italian will be eager to underline Chelsea’s title credentials in his first Premier League game in charge.
The Blues enjoyed a successful pre-season campaign with victories over the likes of Liverpool and AC Milan and whilst differing tactical formations were adopted in this fixtures, Conte will utilise his strongest possible line-up for tonight’s match.
The Hammers don’t possess the best record against the Blues in the league with 33 meetings returning a mere eleven West Ham wins, however Slaven Bilic’s side enjoyed the superior record against Chelsea last season with a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge and 2-1 win at the Boleyn Ground.
The Blues will still be finding their feet under Conte and they will be eager to avoid any slip-ups at this early stage of the campaign, especially at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea struggled through an extremely disappointing 2015/16 season and expectations will be running pretty high amongst the home support, especially with N’Golo Kante on board.
The West Ham support will be equally expectant and will believe that their side can get something form this opening game. We’re similarly optimistic that the Hammers can avoid defeat in what looks set to be a somewhat edgy affair and whilst we’ll be stopping short of a Hammers win at Stamford Bridge tonight, we’ll be siding with the visitors to get a point for their troubles.
