Chelsea v Liverpool tips: Blues back to winning ways
Chelsea will be looking to return to winning ways when they welcome Liverpool to Stamford Bridge on Friday evening.

Antonio Conte couldn’t have enjoyed a much better start to his reign at Stamford Bridge with his Blues side unbeaten in their five games so far this season. The only blip on an otherwise flawless campaign was the 2-2 draw at Swansea City at the weekend although we’re pretty confident that they can put this behind them when they face the Reds on Friday.
Chelsea took the lead at the Liberty Stadium thanks to a goal from Diego Costa, however Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson pulled his side level before the hosts took the lead due to a somewhat controversial Leroy Fer goal, a clear foul on Chelsea’s Gary Cahill being ignored by the referee. Costa salvaged a point for the visitors but it was felt that the referee’s poor decision to allow Fer’s goal denied the Blues the three points.
“It’s very difficult to talk about the game because we lost two points,” Conte said. “We were leading 1-0 and created a lot of chances to score another goal. We are disappointed because the performance was very good in terms of our intensity and because we played good football. People looking at the second goal can see that the referee made a mistake – but this can happen.”
Liverpool had no such problems against reigning champions Leicester City, thrashing the Foxes to the tune of 4-1 with Roberto Firmino grabbing himself a brace and further goals coming from Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane.
Will the Reds display the same ruthless approach on Friday evening will Chelsea’s perfect home record stay intact? Liverpool have impressed in the capital this season with a win at the Emirates Stadium and a draw at White Hart Lane, therefore they will pose a serious threat to the Blues. Nevertheless, Conte is a shrewd operator and he will certainly have a few things up his sleeve ahead of this tricky fixture.
Liverpool have already bagged for themselves fourteen goals in all competitions this season and we expect them to add to that at Stamford Bridge on Friday, however we believe that any Reds goals in this match will be purely a consolation in what will be a Chelsea victory and this means that we should consider a couple of bets, namely Over 2.5 goals at 8/11 with Coral and Chelsea to win and both teams to score at 3/1 with Paddy Power.
Diego Costa is the obvious choice when considering goalscorers and we’ll be backing him to find the net on Friday evening. The Spaniard has scored in three of Chelsea’s four Premier League games so far and he should have few problems against a Reds defence which is less than solid. At 6/4 with betfair, we’ll be backing Costa on the Anytime Goalscorer market.
