Chelsea produced the Premier League performance of Game Week 1 when winning 3-1 at Turf Moor on Monday night, with the Blues coming from a goal down to claim victory.
Diego Costa, Andre Schurrle and Branislav Ivanovic all chipped in with a goal, although the star performer was Cesc Fabregas, with the midfielder controlling the game and showing why Jose Mourinho brought him to the Bridge from Barcelona.
“I hope he has more of that,” said Mourinho of the Spain international’s pass to Schurrle. “We know he’s capable.
“More important than the pass was the control he had with the game, the understanding he had with Nemanja Matic which brings our team to a different dimension in the quality of football that we play.
“He makes the right decisions, the right intensity of the game and he brings other people in the right direction. I am really happy with him.”
Chelsea captain John Terry also praised Fabregas. “Some of the movement and play for the goals was different class, and Cesc was probably pick of the bunch for Schurrle’s goal,” he said.
You won’t get rich backing Chelsea to win this game at very short odds, although it’s worth taking a chance on them to either triumph without conceding a goal or alternatively claim victory at half-time and full-time.
Both of those bets look reasonably priced considering that Burnley didn’t look like scoring after Scott Arfield’s spectacular opener had put the Clarets into the lead.
