Chelsea v Crystal Palace Tips – A second win for the Blues
Chelsea will dominate this London derby on Saturday afternoon
August 27th, 2015
Can Chelsea go through the season unbeaten? That was one of the questions being asked before the start of the Premier League campaign as the Blues were expected to continue where they left off last season when they stormed to the title.
That question was swiftly answered however when Mourinho’s side followed their disappointing opening day draw at home to Swansea City with a 3-0 pasting at the hands of title rivals Manchester City at the Etihad.
Normality was restored last weekend with a 3-2 win at West Brom, however the west London side have been far from consistent this term and they need to be at their best against a Crystal Palace side which sit two points above them after the opening three games of the season.
Former Barcelona forward Pedro featured at the Hawthorns last weekend and gave Chelsea the lead in the 20th minute with Diego Costa and Cesar Azpilicueta completing the scoring for the visitors, however the Baggies held their own and received a huge lift in the second half following the dismissal of captain John Terry. The Blues hung on, but it was a far from convincing performance by the reigning champions.
Crystal Palace will be no pushovers this weekend, make no bones about it. They have impressed this season with their opening three Premier League games returning two wins and a defeat, the latter coming against Arsenal with an own-goal scored by Palace defender Delaney, an unfortunate occurrence which ultimately cost the Eagles a valuable point.
Palace boss Alan Pardew will be relishing the prospect of an upset against Chelsea and whilst it is certainly a possibility, we feel that it is a very unlikely prospect. The Blues may be utterly unconvincing so far this season, but Pedro will inspire his apparently lethargic team-mates as he did against the Baggies last weekend and the Special One will be a happy man at the final whistle.
