Celtic desperately need a win in their Europa League campaign, however victory has eluded them thus far and Molde will deny them again at Celtic Park on Thursday evening.

When the draw for this competition was announced, many thought that Celtic would struggle, especially against the likes of Ajax and Fenerbahce. The weakest team in the group was considered to be Norwegian outfit Molde, although they currently sit comfortably at the top of the group with seven points, three more than second-placed Fenerbahce after the opening three group games.

Indeed, a win for the Norwegian side would effectively guarantee their progress into the knockout stages of the competition and they look excellent value to achieve this. The Hoops were completely outplayed in the reverse fixture, Molde winning to the tune of 3-1 in the Aker Stadion.

The problem with Celtic is that their squad is vastly over-rated and despite storming their way to four successive Scottish Premier League titles, they don’t possess any truly exceptional players. Indeed, Deila’s side have grown considerably weaker since the manager took charge and there is a serious lack of quality throughout the squad.

It is in defence where Celtic are at their weakest and they have looked pretty shaky even against domestic opposition, therefore they clearly aren’t good enough for Europa League action. Celtic are conceding aplenty with no less than two goals scored against them in each of their last five European outings, not the kind of record that leads to wins.

The odds may suggest otherwise, but we feel that Molde can achieve the double over the Scottish champions on Thursday evening. Perhaps the best bet is a Molde win with both teams scoring at an amazing 19/2 with Betway. This bet would have landed in the reverse fixture and despite all their faults, the Hoops have been scoring with five netted in their three Group A matches so far and should get on the scoresheet against a Molde side who have conceded in all of their three European outings this term.

BETTING TIP – Molde win, both teams to score – Betway  19/2
