Burnley v Bournemouth tips: Cherries to fall back to earth with a bump
Burnley can once again silence their critics by returning to winning ways this weekend
December 9th, 2016
Before the season started, many were predicting that Burnley would make an immediate return back to the second tier of English football and whilst this clearly could still prove to be the case, Sean Dyche’s men have undoubtedly been giving it their very best shot in recent games.
The Clarets enjoyed a bit of a purple patch during late October and early November when they managed a creditable draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford as well as wins over Everton and Crystal Palace. This was enough to send them clear of the relegation zone and towards a much more respectable mid-table position, however since then the side have suffered three successive defeats to and now sit just three points above the danger zone.
Burnley’s last outing ended in a 2-0 defeat to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium and clearly they will be desperate to bounce back from this disappointment. Indeed Dyche will be confident of stopping the rot at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon and the good news for the Clarets boss is that Bournemouth are having a hard time of things away from home with a mere five points from their away games this season. The Cherries put in an excellent display when beating Liverpool 4-3 last weekend but we’re finding it difficult to ignore their poor record away from Dean Court.
Given that all of Burnley’s four wins this season have been at home, we’ll be siding with the hosts on Saturday afternoon. The bookies make Bournemouth 5/4 favourites for the three points, however we fancy the Clarets to be the ones cheering at the final whistle this weekend.
