Bournemouth v Sunderland Tips – More misery for the Black Cats
Dick Advocaat can expect to have another bad day in the office on Saturday
September 18th, 2015
It was never going to be easy for Bournemouth to emulate their success of last season and their 3-1 defeat to Norwich City last weekend was their third defeat of the new campaign. They defence was ripped apart at Carrow Road, boss Eddie Howe stating that he was somewhat disappointed by the result and the manner in which the goals were conceded.
Indeed, Bournemouth enjoyed one of the Championship’s best defensive records last term with just 45 goals conceded in 46 outings, however so far this season they have leaked nine with only Sunderland and Chelsea conceding more than that.
Nevertheless, the Cherries have demonstrated that they possess some quality in attack, Callum Wilson being widely tipped to make an England appearance after contributing four goals already in this season’s five matches. He will certainly be expected to pose problems for a Sunderland side which have failed to win in their last eight Premier League matches.
The Black Cats are joint-bottom of the league table alongside arch-rivals Newcastle United with just two points and after starting the season with a 4-2 defeat to Leicester City, things got a whole lot worse when they suffered a 3-1 defeat at Norwich and the Stadium of Light emptied of hordes of home fans at the interval.
With a Capital One Cup game against Manchester City on the horizon followed by a trip to Old Trafford in the Premier League, things certainly won’t get any easier for the north-east club and they won’t be offered any respite at Dean Court this weekend. Indeed, Bournemouth will be eager to clinch their first home win of the season and will see this fixture as an excellent chance to do just that.
