Birmingham City v Wolves Tips – Fierce Midlands derby in prospect
Wolves will be eager to put to an end a run of three back-to-back league defeats
October 29th, 2015
Wolverhampton Wanderers are sitting 14th in the Championship table with fifteen points, their last victory coming against Huddersfield Town earlier this month. Three successive defeats wasn’t the sort of form that Kenny Jackett and his side were hoping for, although form goes very much out of the window in derby matches and this clash could be an excellent time for the visitors to end their losing run.
Birmingham City have their eyes very much set on promotion to the top flight and they are currently sitting sixth in the Premier League table following seven wins and three draws from their opening thirteen matches although they head into this clash on the back of a 2-0 defeat at Hull City, this result ending a four-game winning run.
They will nevertheless be brimming with confidence against a Wolves side which have conceded nine goals in their last three outings and who will be missing Ethan Ebanks-Landell and Nouha Dicko through injury.
Birmingham themselves may be without the services of David Cotterill but David Davis should return to the fray after an absence of two games.
With the home side sitting just a single point adrift of the automatic places and Wolves falling into the bottom half of the table, we cannot see anything but a home win for Gary Rowett’s side on Saturday. These local derby matches rarely follow the form book, however on this occasion the smart money will be heading towards Birmingham City to climb another rung on the ladder to promotion.
