Birmingham City v Hull City betting tips – Tigers can re-take top spot
Hull City can haul themselves back into top-spot with a win at St Andrews tonight
March 3rd, 2016
Things are once again extremely tight at the top of the Sky Bet Championship with just two points separating the top four.
Burnley stormed into top spot courtesy of their 2-1 win over local rivals Bolton Wanderers last weekend, previous leaders Hull City only managing a goal-less draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday on Friday evening.
Nevertheless, Tigers boss Steve Bruce will be confident of steering his men back to the top with a win in the West Midlands this evening and the bookies certainly fancy his chances with Paddy Power making them 11/10 favourites to seal the three points at St Andrews.
Hull City head into this clash on the back of some excellent form, having lost just once since the turn of the year across all competitions, their only defeat coming at the hands of current Championship leaders Burnley at Turf Moor in early February. They will be in for a tough time against a Blues side who are still in contention for a play-off place despite sitting four points short of the top-six.
Birmingham have been struggling with inconsistency this season, however they enjoyed a decent start of the year until a couple of poor defeats last month. They head into this match on the back of a 2-0 defeat away to QPR and despite being the home side, the bookies make them outsiders to claim a maximum points haul with Sky Bet going 16/5 for Birmingham to win.
Tonight’s visitors remain 13/8 favourites to lift the Championship title in May and they have been amongst the main promotion contenders for most of the season. Clearly there are massive incentives for both sides tonight but we’ll be backing the Tigers to head home with the three points in the bag and with Birmingham failing to find the net in three of their last five Championship outings, our recommendation is backing a Hull City win with both teams scoring at a boosted price of 5/1 with Ladbrokes.
