Atletico Madrid v Astana Tips – Spaniards will return to winning ways
Atletico Madrid will be desperate to return to winning ways in tomorrow's Champions League clash
October 20th, 2015
Atletico opened their European campaign with a victory over Galatasaray, although they suffered a major setback in their last Champions League outing when they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Portuguese side Benfica. They took the lead in that game thanks to an Angel Correa goal, however things were level nine minutes before the break with a Nicolas Gaitan equaliser and Benfica sealed the points when Goncalo Guedes netted the winning goal.
Atletico will be confident of bouncing back at Astana’s expense, although off-field events are of more immediate concern with several key players being linked with transfers away from the club.
According to the Spanish media, Chelsea are looking at raiding the Estadio Vicente Calderon and with boss Jose Mourinho under mounting pressure, rumours are mounting that the west London side are also wanting to lure Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone to Stamford Bridge as well as striker Antoine Griezmann, midfielder Koke and defender Diego Godin.
These sort of rumours aren’t the sort of thing which Atletico want heading into this Wednesday evening clash, however we feel that they will put this to one side and get on with the matter in hand – namely returning to winning ways and moving closer to a place in the final sixteen. At odds of 1/7 for a home win, there is absolutely no value whatsoever backing the Spaniards to win, although there are numerous other options available for those wanting a punt on this match.
The most obvious of these is backing Atletico Madrid to triumph 2-0 at odds of 17/4 with BetVictor. Astana did manage to find the back of the net twice to force Galatasaray to a draw, however this isn’t generally a side which prolifically scores in Europe and Madrid should wrap it up in style tomorrow night. Astana suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Benfica in their first match and Atletico’s previous four matches have all been by that same scoreline therefore we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see the hosts win 2-0 on this occasion.
