Ronald Koeman isn’t on Paul Lambert’s Christmas card list after his recent pursuit of Ron Vlaar, with the Dutchman a prized asset after some fine performances for the Netherlands at the 2014 World Cup.
“I think he is disrespecting when talking about other team’s players when they are still their players,” he told Sky Sports. “I think that’s wrong.
“I wouldn’t mind if he picked up the phone, but you don’t go public on it. That’s the thing that annoyed me the most and the stance is still exactly the same with Ron.”
“I don’t have a problem. You saw Ron play on Saturday, he was fantastic for us so I don’t think anything like that is preying on his mind at all,” said the Scot. “I just thought it was the wrong thing to have done.”
Aston Villa picked up a valuable three points at the Britannia Stadium and will now look to improve upon their home form of last season.
Goals might still be at a premium for the Midlands side while Christian Benteke is on the sidelines, although they looked defensively stout against Stoke.
Newcastle United have made several summer signings and gave a good account of themselves against Manchester City on Sunday when losing 2-0.
Siem de Jong should be fit to make his debut on Saturday and Pardew was encouraged by his team’s performance despite their defeat.
“I think Siem will be close next week,” said Pardew.
“Without Siem and Cheik – who I think will make a big difference to us – I thought we had a really good go,” said Pardew.
“I’m really buoyed, actually, by a lot of things that went on. I thought the crowd was great and we responded to that.
“Hopefully when we come here against Palace (on August 30), we will have some points on the board and we can get ourselves a good home win, which will be important for us.”
It could be a case of honours even at Villa Park and that is where our money is going.
