Arsenal v Stoke City Tips – Gunners will scrape a win this weekend
Arsenal may be winning, but they need to improve if they wish to clinch the title
September 8th, 2015
It hasn’t been a great season for Arsenal so far but then again it hasn’t exactly been too bad either. They started off pretty well with a 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Community Shield but opened their Premier League campaign with a surprise 2-0 home defeat to West Ham.
Things have steadily improved since then but narrow wins over Crystal Palace and Newcastle United and a draw with Liverpool don’t exactly inspire and the Blues need to up their game in order to keep pace with Manchester City in the race for the title.
Perhaps Wenger’s men will come to life following the international break. The ideal chance will present itself when the Potters come to town on Saturday afternoon. Stoke have managed just two points from their opening four Premier League games and will be without the services of both Adam and Afellay for this weekend’s clash, therefore this could be an ideal chance for the Gunners to lift themselves and record their first convincing win of the season.
Indeed, that defeat to the Hammers aside, Arsenal have looked defensively strong this season so far with back-to-back clean sheets and we feel that they can manage a third on Saturday afternoon. In addition to that, they should possess more than enough firepower to deny the visitors an easy time of things at the other end.
We expect Alexis Sanchez to be the main threat for the home side this weekend with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott expected to add to the visitors’ woes. Goals galore it may not be, but another Arsenal victory will be ground out as well as another clean sheet.
