Arsenal v Stoke City tips – Gunners set to be held at Emirates
Arsenal could be vulnerable against an improving Stoke team
January 9th, 2015
Stoke City have lost their last twelve visits to either Highbury or the Emirates Stadium, with the Potters enjoying plenty of success at the Britannia but only defeat in north London.
However, there’s a case to be made for Mark Hughes’ team ending their hoodoo in this fixture, especially when you consider that Stoke have raised their game for the big boys this season.
This is a Potters side who were unfortunate not to get more than a point from two exchanges with Manchester United, while they went to the Etihad Stadium earlier in the campaign and won 1-0.
Arsene Wenger will surely be wary of a team who were three goals to the good against his side in the recent reverse match which ended 3-2 in favour of Stoke.
City have only lost one of their last seven games and, while Arsenal are generally strong in front of their own supporters, it’s likely that they will be rough-housed against a side who have that 3-2 victory fresh in their memory.
Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil aren’t yet fit and Theo Walcott’s injury setback means it will be the same old story in terms of Alexis Sanchez looking to make things happen for a side who shouldn’t be so short to win the game.
