Both Liverpool and Arsenal will be eager to boost their title aspirations by clinching full points when they go head-to-head at the Emirates tonight.

Arsene Wenger’s side will go into this match hoping that they can enjoy a better outcome from their previous outing at the Emirates. Indeed, there were high hopes in their opening Premier League fixture as they played host to city rivals West Ham, however a disappointing display cost them dearly and they suffered a 2-0 defeat.

This poor result prompted fans to call on Wenger to strengthen the side, his only signing since the end of the last campaign being Petr Cech from Chelsea. Nevertheless, the Gunners boss promised that the side would bounce back in their next match against Crystal Palace and they duly obliged with a 2-1 victory at Selhurst Park.

Arsenal created plenty of chances in that match and Wenger will be confident that his men can carve out another win against one of their potential title rivals.

Liverpool have enjoyed a decent start to the season, opening their campaign with a morale-boosting 1-0 win at the Britannia Stadium. They followed that with another 1-0 victory against newly-promoted Bournemouth, Christian Benteke sealing the points for the Reds on that occasion.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will have been delighted with these results and while the Reds may not have been thoroughly convincing, at least they have been much improved in defence compared to the final months of last season.

The Gunners will be under huge pressure to secure their first home points of the season, although the Reds will be just as hard to beat as the Hammers. Liverpool have looked extremely balanced in their opening two matches, however Henderson’s loss in midfield will be a setback and this could be the area in which the game is either won or lost. It will certainly prove to be a cagey affair, but we feel that the hosts will have sufficient power in attack to clinch the three points.
