Arsenal v Chelsea betting tips – Back a Gunners win at the Emirates
All eyes will be on the Emirates Stadium on Sunday when Arsenal and Chelsea lock horns
January 21st, 2016
The recent history between these two sides has been very much in favour of Chelsea and despite triumphing over their city rivals in the Community Shield at the start of the season, the Gunners returned to their previous poor form against the Blues by losing 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in September.
This defeat came at a time when Chelsea were struggling badly in the bottom half of the league table while Arsenal were enjoying some great form and there were many who were confidently predicting a relatively easy win for Arsene Wenger’s men on that occasion. Clearly, this wasn’t to be and Gabriel’s sending off for the Gunners allowed the hosts to take full advantage and seal the three points at Stamford Bridge.
Since that Chelsea victory, Jose Mourinho has been sacked and with his departure, Arsenal have the opportunity to put their dismal recent record against the Blues firmly behind them by sealing the win which would further cement their position at the top of the table. Indeed, they have the perfect chance to do just that against a Chelsea outfit which have won just one of their last five top-flight matches and with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil back in the ranks, we’ll be backing the Gunners to do the business on Sunday and pile even further pressure on the Blues. Back Arsenal to win at 21/10 with William Hill.
For those looking for something a little meatier, head along to Sky Bet where you can grab yourself a decent enough 11/4 for a Gunners win-to-nil. Arsenal have conceded a mere six Premier League goals at the Emirates this season with Chelsea scoring eleven on the road. Petr Cech is repeatedly proving why he is amongst the best keepers on the planet and a clean sheet against his former club would certainly be the icing on the cake for both him and his team-mates.
With goalscorers in mind, Olivier Giroud is the obvious choice on the Anytime Goalscorer market with Ladbrokes going 6/4 for the Frenchman to score on Sunday. He failed to hit the net against Stoke at the weekend but he wasn’t presented with many chances due to the absence of Mesut Ozil. Now that the German is back in action, there will likely be much more creativity within the Gunners ranks and this should result in some more goal-scoring chances for Giroud.
