Arsenal v Basel tips: In-form Gunners to just keep on winning
A resurgent Gunners should encounter little opposition when they face Basel in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

Arsenal limped out of the blocks in dismal fashion at the start of 2016/17, however they are now firing on all cylinders with their 3-0 win over Chelsea at the weekend taking their Premier League winning run to four games. Arsene Wenger’s men dominated over the Blues with goals coming from Sanchez, Walcott and Ozil to wrap-up a thoroughly emphatic victory over their London rivals, a win which the fans have waiting a long time for.
“[It was] one of our best performances of recent years,” Wenger said after the final whistle. “I felt that in the last three weeks, our team was on the way up. [This] was a good test to see if that was real, if we could continue to move upwards. Would Chelsea stop our progression?
“Overall, with the quality of our performance, it confirmed we are on the way up. You cannot fault any performance from the goalkeeper to the centre-forward. There’s still room for improvement, but that shows we can defend together the style of football we want to play.”
Was it any surprise that Wenger was delighted, given that his side had displayed what they are truly capable of. The Gunners boss will be hopeful that they can replicate this performance on Wednesday evening when Basel come to town.
Arsenal salvaged a point from their dismal Champions League opening match against PSG with an injury-time goal from each side and we believe that they will add three points to that single one when they welcome Basel to the Emirates Stadium, the bookies in full agreement with our prediction with Ladbrokes going 2/5 for a Gunners win.
This clearly isn’t a tempting price but you can back a home win and still get your hands on some decent prices, the first of these being an Arsenal win-to-nil at 31/20 with BetVictor. The Gunners rearguard were particularly solid against Chelsea with Koscielny and Mustafi improving each time they appear. Diego Costa has been a thorn in the side for the Gunners in recent seasons but he was effectively silenced at the weekend and another solid display should see the Swiss sent home with nothing for their troubles. Not even a consolation goal.
Our other recommendation is on the Anytime Goalscorer market with Alexis Sanchez 21/20 with Bet365 to find the net at some point. The Chilean marksman has scored in all but one of his last five games for the Gunners and we feel that he will prove a particular headache for the Basel defence in what could prove to be a thoroughly one-sided affair on Wednesday evening.
