Arsenal 6/4 favourites to lift Premier League title
The Gunners are now firm favourites for the title following crucial weekend win over Foxes
February 16th, 2016
Arsenal’s last gap goal against Premier League leaders Leicester City has lifted them to within two points of the table-toppers and Arsene Wenger’s men are now favourites at 6/4 to lift the title at the end of the season.
Clearly Sunday’s match really was a must win, given that some five points separated the Gunners from Leicester and that gap looked set to widen when a Jamie Vardy penalty kick sent the Foxes into the lead before the break.
The hosts responded in the second half by levelling the scores, Theo Walcott scoring following Danny Simpson’s sending off. Danny Welbeck made sure of the three points by scoring deep into added time and while Leicester City still enjoy a two-point lead at the top of the table, William Hill are confident that Wenger’s men will go all the way this season by going 6/4 for the Gunners to lift the title.
Tottenham Hotspur’s excellent 2-1 win at Manchester City has seen them stay ahead of the Gunners with goal-difference separating the two sides in the Premier League table. Spurs took the lead at the Etihad courtesy of a Harry Kane penalty kick, however the hosts made them work hard for their points with Kelechi Iheanacho scoring an equaliser before Christian Eriksen made sure of the points with a goal seven minutes from time. As such, Spurs are second in the Premier League outright winner market with BetVictor going 5/2 that the title heads to White Hart Lane.
Aston Villa moved even closer to the Championship after finishing 6-0 down against a rampant Liverpool side. Four goals in just thirteen minutes resulted in a mass exodis of Villa supporters and Remi Garde’s men are 1/50 with Coral to be plying their trade in the second tier of English football at the start of next season.
