Anderlecht v FK Gabala tips: Back easy win for Belgian runners-up
A one-sided affair should see Belgian runners-up Anderlecht sweep past FK Gabala on Thursday evening
September 14th, 2016
Anderlecht have enjoyed an excellent start to their domestic season and currently sit second in the Belgian top-flight after the opening six games with three wins and three draws to their name.
We don’t envisage them having too many problems in their opening Europa League group stage match on Thursday evening when they go head-to-head with Azerbaijani side FK Gabala.
The Belgian runners-up failed to qualify for this season’s Champions League thanks to a 4-2 aggregate defeat to Rostov, however they are expected to do well in Europe’s second-tier competition and they have already shown their mettle by thrashing Slavia Prague 6-0 in their two-legged qualifying round.
They now lock horns with FK Gabala and we believe that a thrilling and goal-filled match will ensue. Anderlecht possess a very strong side with no shortage of talent up front and they will be pushing for some very early goals, however Gabala have also shown that they are no slouches up front with their last outing seeing them thrash Neftci 8-0 away from home in the Azerbaijani Premyer Liga.
The bookies are pretty optimistic about the home side’s chances of sealing the three points and so are we, however at odds of 4/9 for an Anderlecht victory we’ll be looking elsewhere and the handicap market offers us something a little meatier with Coral going 16/5 on Anderlecht -2. That’s good enough for us.
